Requisition Title: Lecturer or Assistant / Associate / Full Professor - Academic Neurologist, Stroke Management - 1805435
The Departments of Medicine at St. Michael's Hospital and University of Toronto are seeking a qualified full-time academic neurologist with expertise in the management of stroke. This position will be to support patient demands in a busy regional stroke centre and to lead in ongoing quality improvement efforts, in addition to supporting the general neurology program at St. Michael's Hospital. The candidate will have an academic position description of Clinician Teacher or Clinician in Quality and Innovation (CQI). The successful candidate must be eligible for a Full-time Clinical Academic appointment at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor at the University of Toronto. The expected start date of the position is July 1, 2019, but several months flexibility is available.
The successful candidate will hold an MD degree and should have, or be eligible for, certification in Neurology by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario (CPSO). The successful candidate will also have advanced training in stroke. In addition, with a clinician teacher job description, the successful candidate will participate fully in the educational programs in Neurology at St. Michael's Hospital and the University of Toronto and collaborate in clinical research and quality improvement programs. The successful candidate should be an effective teacher, committed to sustained excellence in teaching and scholarly contributions to teaching and education. Demonstrated achievement in teaching and education are strongly desired. Teaching experience will be measured by the presence of a strong track record of interests and excellence in resident and fellow education, formal training in teaching methodology, leadership as a clinical educator and other relevant experience. Advanced training in quality and evidence of scholarship is the minimum requirement for the CQI job description; academic experience as demonstrated by publications in leading journals, presentations at significant conferences, awards and accolades will be an asset.
The successful candidate will report to the Head, Division of Neurology at St. Michael's Hospital. The Division currently consists of 13 full time neurologists and has a robust multiple sclerosis research program as well as expertise in stroke and movement disorders.
Estimated remuneration will be commensurate with academic rank, qualifications and experience. Applications will be accepted until January 31, 2019 or until the position is successfully filled.
