The Microbiology, Immunology & Genetics Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor to join our team.

Duties & Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:

* Maintain an operational laboratory and work in close collaboration with scientists both within the department and outside for various collaborative and multidisciplinary research projects.
* Pursue, develop and lead research and innovation at a professional level in the fields of cancer nanotechnology and health disparity.
* Establish intramural and extramural research programs.
* Be proficient in techniques such as:
--Chemical modification, chemical conjugation, characterization of the polymer and liposomal based nanosystems.
--Development and validation of a novel nanoparticle platforms.
--Cell, tissue, and/or animal studies for drug delivery and/or imaging.
* Teach and mentor students. Provide support and guidance to graduate and DO-PhD students.
* Participate in departmental activities and serve in research committees.
* Maintain a safe work environment, including ensuring compliance with legislation and the undertaking of risk assessments.
* Develop a strategic direction with his/her own research focus area in nanotechnology.
* Continue to improve/maintain his/her own professional development.
* Maintain a high-quality record of research publications in nanotechnology and health disparity.
* Contribute and support the overall administrative function of UNTHSC by representing the school and faculty on appropriate committees and groups and activities.
* Promote and be in accordance with UNTHSC values, upholding high professional standards and leading by example.
* Participate in other activities assigned by the department chair.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:

* Ph.D. (Biochemical engineering or other related fields).
* Research experience (at least 6-8 years) in cancer nanotechnology and health disparity.
* Evidence of publications in peer-reviewed reputed journals relevant to the fields of nanotechnology and cancer.
* Experience in cell culture techniques and ability to work on animal tumor models.
* Experience in developing and validation of research protocols.
* Good laboratory skills and active research program in cancer nanotechnology.
* Excellent teaching and communication skills.
* Experience in mentoring undergraduate and/or graduate students.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* Post-doctoral and/or research faculty experience in the area of cancer nanotechnology.
* Research publications in the area of cancer nanotechnology.
* Demonstrated interdisciplinary research experience.
* Experience in writing grant applications.
* Proven record of intramural and extramural grant support.
* Teaching and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.
