Electronic Technician III

Job description

The Electronic Technician III is part of the Outside Plant team supporting campus infrastructure and pathways. Duties will focus on installation and maintenance of fiber optic cables, configuration and installation of fiber optic circuits, documentation of fiber optic cables and circuits. Other duties will include, but not limited to, maintenance of manholes and duct banks, installation and termination of copper, and coax cable, assist with installation and maintenance of UPS devices in all buildings, installation of infrastructure inside buildings.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to work from ladders or lifts up to 15 feet or higher
*Must be able to lift and carry 30 pounds
*Must be able to work in tight places for extended periods of time
*Must be able to distinguish wiring colors
*Must be able to traverse campus while carrying or moving equipment in a reasonable amount of time.
*Must be able to stand for long periods of time


Monday-Friday (37.5 hrs/wk)
Occasional overtime as needed and will be required to be in the on-call rotation.


Network Cabling and Equipment installation, experience/certification, Nortel/Comdial I&M experience.

Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?

Preferred Education/Experience

Associates degree and previous experience installing cabling for network equipment preferred.
