Job Summary: A post doctoral research associate position is immediately available in the Comparative Metabolism Laboratory within the Department of Physiological Sciences at Oklahoma State University.
The NIH-funded position is offered to study glucose metabolism during cardiorespiratory complications of diabetes.

The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D., D.V.M, or equivalent, with a strong background in physiology, and/or molecular and cellular biology. The applicant should also be familiar with diabetes research. Primary responsibilities will include planning and managing research projects, maintaining animal models of metabolic diseases (including genetically engineered mice), performing in vivo (e.g., blood sampling, tissue collection) and in vitro experiments (e.g., cell culture, RT-PCR, ELISA, Western blotting), and preparation of manuscripts and conference presentations. The postdoctoral fellow will also assist with training and supervision of graduate and undergraduate students. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to work both independently and participate as a team player within a dynamic research group, as well as within the Oklahoma Center for Respiratory and Infectious Diseases (https://ocrid.okstate.edu). The applicant must be fluent in spoken and written English with strong communication and organizational skills. May require nighttime and weekend hours based on ongoing experiments.

Must be able to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
