Position Summary
Academic Advising Specialists holistically address issues impacting student academic success which may include academic, work, relationships, personal, health, and financial matters.

Advisors provide academic advising and specialized retention services to students which may include undecided students, transfer students, and career technical students. Advising services include assistance in developing academic goals, long- and short-term academic plans, unofficial transcript evaluations, informal degree audits, evaluation of placement test scores, and providing information on credit and non-credit programs at PCC. We are seeking a collaborative professional, who brings a lens of equity and inclusion, and a commitment to social justice to our team.

Candidate Profile
These qualifications, skills and abilities are critical for success in this position.

In your Cover Letter you must address, in details, how you meet the minimum qualifications and the success qualifications listed below.

1. Demonstrated experience providing various advising approaches according to NACADA core competencies.
2. Demonstrated experience supporting students of color, LGBTQ+, and students experiencing disabilities.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of and experience practicing academic advising through a lens of equity and inclusion with a commitment to social justice.
4. Demonstrated experience of in-depth knowledge of student development and/or retention theory OR Master's degree in student affairs, education, counseling, psychology or related field.

Minimum Qualifications

To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution. Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Two years of professional experience in an educational setting providing academic advising, career counseling, student retention/coaching, or related student services.

Starting Salary Expectations
Starting Salary: $44,448 to $47,615 (Step 3); based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

Position Grade Salary Range
$44448 to $77071 Annual Salary

Additionally, PCC provides a tuition waiver for you, your spouse/domestic partner, and dependent children under 24 years of age, as well as partial tuition reimbursement for full-time employees at other accredited institutions.

*Please note: Temporary Academic Professional employees are not eligible for Personal Leave Days, Life Insurance, Long-term Disability, or AD&D Insurance.

Paid Leave: (Pro-rated by FTE for Part-Time Employees)

- Starts at 13.33 hours of vacation leave per month (additional vacation hours with years of services)
- 1 day of sick leave per month
- 11 holidays
- 3 additional personal leave days per year

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Work is performed in an office environment. Occasional evening and weekend hours required. Incumbents may travel to businesses or college fairs requiring the use of a personal vehicle.

Occasional lifting of boxes of catalogs and/or other college material which may weigh up to 50 pounds.
