Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Teacher Education and Administration invites applications for a Full Professor and Department Chair to begin Fall 2019. The successful candidate will lead the Teacher Education & Administration Department's faculty and staff with programs of national prominence, including undergraduate, graduate, and certification programs in Early Childhood, Curriculum and Instruction, Language and Literacy, Elementary and Secondary Education, STEM/STEAM Education, and Educational Leadership. The department seeks a chair who will build upon its 130 years of excellence and guide its programs to a higher plane of excellence and national recognition.
The department chair is expected to maintain an active research program of national significance, to work with faculty on procuring external funding to support research, to mentor undergraduate, graduate, and certification students, and to collaborate with faculty and external agencies to achieve the academic goals of the college and university. In addition, he or she will be expected to teach courses, serve or chair dissertation committees, and contribute service to the College of Education and the University of North Texas.

Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in Teacher Education, STEAM Education concentrations, Literacy Education, Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education, or Educational Leadership, with at least 18 semester hours of graduate coursework in the aforementioned areas. The successful candidate will have a record that is qualified for the rank of tenured Professor.
Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience leading educational programs in higher education, research experience in higher education, and teaching experience with minoritized and marginalized student populations.
The successful candidate must be a leader in his or her field, as evidenced by strong leadership, publication record, and national professional activity. The candidate will be expected to demonstrate successful leadership experience commensurate with departmental demands in the aforementioned areas of Teacher Education, STEAM, Literacy, or Educational Leadership.
