The Department of Public Administration at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for two positions of Visiting Assistant Professor, beginning Fall 2019. This is a two-year contract that is a nine-month appointment at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor for both positions. The department seeks excellent and enthusiastic candidates who will teach in and support the development of the new B.A. in Urban Policy and Planning. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a defined record of scholarly research publications and have the capacity for external research funding. Candidates can expect to have a workload that includes teaching, research and service to the department, the College of Health and Public Service, and the University of North Texas, with a specific emphasis upon assisting our undergraduate coordinator in program development for the new degree.

The Department of Public Administration also houses a Ph.D. in Public Administration and Management, an MPA that is ranked #8 nationally in local government management, a B.A. in Nonprofit Leadership Studies, and several minors and certificates. The department is located within the College of Health and Public Service, which has seven academic departments and several centers, institutes and professional programs. Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in planning or a closely related field at the time of appointment is required along with a demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses. A demonstrated and a defined research agenda is required along with a record of peer reviewed publications.

If the PhD degree is not in planning, then the applicant must have a Master's degree in urban planning.

Preferred Qualifications:
As UNT hires its inaugural urban planning faculty, area of concentration is open. The following research areas are of particular interest: transportation, environmental planning, hazard mitigation, healthy communities, economic development, housing & community development. Faculty are expected to teach across modes including face-to-face, hybrid and online teaching. A demonstrated ability to secure external funding to support research is strongly preferred.
