Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Management in the College of Business at the University of North Texas invites energetic and visionary applicants with leadership experience for the position of Department Chair. The Management Chair reports to the Dean of the College of Business, serves as the chief administrative and academic leader of the department, and will be responsible for moving the Management Department to a higher level of excellence and visibility in academic programs, research, and student preparation.
As one of the largest business schools in the nation, the University of North Texas (UNT) College of Business is the choice of nearly 5,800 students. The college has been continuously accredited by the AACSB since 1961. UNT is also ranked among the nation's top-tier research universities by Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education.
The Management Department houses faculty teaching in the disciplines of management, strategic management, human resource management, health services management, organizational behavior, and entrepreneurship. The department offers degree programs at the bachelor's, master's, and doctoral levels.
The Chair is the academic leader of the department. Responsibilities include program development, faculty and staff recruiting and evaluation, strategic planning, department budgeting, and participation in the governance of the College. The Chair will direct an advisory board composed of alumni and corporate constituents; should participate in corporate outreach and engagement as well as involvement in professional management discipline; and normally teaches one course each semester. Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum qualifications are an earned doctorate in management or related discipline from an AACSB-accredited institution and a distinguished record of quality research, effective teaching, and service commensurate with appointment to the rank of professor.

Preferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications include evidence of effective leadership in developing and executing strategies for a program, center, or department including a history of leadership as a chair, assistant chair or associate dean. Preference will also be given to candidates with continued research engagement through refereed publications and/or funded research; evidence of ability to maintain collegial working relationships with other administrators and within the department; familiarity with grant writing and funding processes; experience with the AACSB accreditation process; experience working with external constituencies, including alumni and donors; and experience supervising doctoral students.
