Job Summary/Basic Function:
The Department of Educational Psychology invites applications for a tenure track faculty appointment at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank to begin Fall 2019. The position is for an applicant with expertise in special education. The successful candidate will be expected to immediately contribute to the continued development and success of the department and growing the special education concentration through research, teaching, and mentoring of students. Instructional roles include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in traditional and online formats. The successful candidate will be expected to develop or continue an ongoing research agenda in their area of specialization, including regular publications in quality outlets, professional presentations, and submission of external grant proposals. Service on dissertation committees is expected, as well as representation of the discipline and department via committee participation and other relevant service activities.

Minimum Qualifications:
Required qualifications include an earned doctorate in special education. Doctorates in a closely related field will be considered as long as the clear purpose of the degree is special education. ABD candidates will be considered as long as the doctorate is successfully defended prior to the start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrated research program within critical perspectives in special education, including: multicultural/multilingual special education; race and class in special education; over-identification of students of color; critical disability studies in special education; inclusive education; educator expectations; and the reasoning of children identified for special education services.
Preference will be given to candidates with teaching and research experience, as well as external funding or the potential for external funding, commensurate with rank.
