Ithaca College's Department of Modern Languages and Literatures (located in Ithaca, NY) invites applicants for a tenure track assistant professorship in Spanish to begin August 2019 to teach all levels of language, literature, and culture. We are especially interested in candidates with a record of successful teaching and mentoring of students from all backgrounds (including first-generation college students, low-income students, racial and ethnic minorities, women, LGBTQ, etc.). Applicants are encouraged to state in their cover letter how they will enhance the diversity of offerings and educational experiences in the department, including the Ithaca College Core Curriculum.

Area of specialty is open, but preferred candidates must demonstrate the ability to complement existing areas of department expertise; and will show initiative in engaging with College-wide programs.
Position/Job Qualifications
Applicants must have a PhD in Spanish/Hispanic Studies or a similar relevant scholarly area; if not yet complete, PhD must be in hand no later than time of appointment (August 2019). With the major focus at Ithaca College on teaching, excellence in teaching is a critical factor in hiring decisions. Demonstrated excellence or potential for excellence in scholarship is also required; commitment to undergraduate education; native or near-native fluency in Spanish and English.
