Job Details



Provide patient care in a fast-paced pharmacy setting. Compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceutical supplies upon receiving written orders from physicians. Reviews and interprets prescriptions and drug profiles to ensure appropriate drug therapy has been prescribed and ensures that drug interactions are considered. Manage inventory and technician staff to provide excellent customer service. Must be available to work in any of the Ambulatory Retail Pharmacies if needed.

Physical Requirements

May include standing for greater than 5 hours at a time and possibly walking several miles per day. May require the ability to reach items above shoulder level and be able to lift up to 25 pounds.



Shift

Must be available 745am-6pm Monday through Friday. Hours and days of week subject to change on needs of the department and location assigned to cover.



Skills/Knowledge/Abilities

Strong clinical skills; knowledge of drug distribution and dispensing; knowledge of pharmacy law; knowledge of Medicare and other private and 3rd party payers; ability to prioritize; excellent communication and customer service skills; high attention to detail; strong sense of team mentality; desire to teach; and motivation are required to excel in this position.

    Research

    In fiscal year 2016, the University of Kentucky was awarded $316.5 million in external grants and contracts.
