Assistant Professor of Theatre (Production Designer), Department of Music and Theatre (R-01375)
Position Description: Fort Hays State University Department of Music and Theatre seeks applicants for Assistant Professor of Theatre (Production Designer). The successful candidate will teach courses in the theatre program and in the general education curriculum; manage scene shop; supervise student workers assigned to scene shop/production team; design/construct sets and lighting for four mainstage productions a year (two theatrical plays, one musical theatre production, one operatic production); and mentor students in safety, lighting, and design execution. Additional duties may include other teaching assignments based on area of expertise. (Knowledge of sound design and image projection a plus).
Minimum Qualifications: MFA in an appropriate area of technical theatre. If the successful candidate does not yet possess a terminal degree in theatre, the position will be offered as a temporary non-tenure position at the rank of Instructor.
Preferred Qualifications: MFA in an appropriate area of technical theatre. The candidate should be comfortable teaching students of all levels, including majors, non-majors, and community participants. In addition, the successful candidate will be a willing collaborator in teaching, the production and design processes, and community outreach. Experience teaching Theatre Appreciation.
