Essential Job Duties: This postdoctoral position will conduct a vigorous research program in the Department of Molecular and Structural Biochemistry by performing studies of cellular detoxification enzymes at the molecular level. Such research will require the use of modern techniques in enzymology, molecular biology, structural biology, mammalian cell culture and transfection, and in vitro protein analysis (western, immunoprecipitation, immunofluorescence). This position will be responsible for sharing and reporting the results of the research by publishing papers in peer-reviewed scientific journals and participating in scientific meetings, seminar series, and other appropriate professional activities. Sharing of research will also involve providing guidance to undergraduate and graduate students in the laboratory. This position will also be responsible for actively seeking and submitting successfully funded proposals to funding agencies as opportunities become available for postdoctoral training fellowships.
Department Required Skills: Ph.D. in Biochemistry or related field. Excellent communication skills are required.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: Possess a documented background in biochemistry, molecular/cell biology and protein crystallography. Experience with mammalian cell culture.
