Essential Job Duties: North Carolina State University has an interim medicine emphasis position available for an immediate start through June 2019. There is some flexibility in start and end dates, but starting no later than January 30th and ending no sooner than June 10th is required. The position will provide a unique experience for individuals with a strong interest in Internal Medicine, and will provide excellent experience for those planning to pursue a rotating internship. The veterinarian will provide service on the internal medicine, soft tissue surgery, and daytime emergency services. There will also be time to spend on an elective of the veterinarian's choosing. The veterinarian will assume primary case management responsibility under the direct guidance and supervision of faculty service members. Participation in clinical instruction of fourth year students is expected. Formal course work is not included in the position, but a series of didactic lectures and discussions (lead by faculty and residents) are included. Salary is $32,000 per annum, prorated for the length of employment. Medical insurance will be provided at no cost. One day of sick leave is earned on a monthly basis. A faculty certificate can be obtained after arrival through our institutional employment licensing agreement at no cost. Professional liability insurance is furnished with the position. Factors favoring selection of the applicant include letters of recommendation that indicate superior clinical skills, a strong academic record (e.g., GPA >3.0/4.0) and a record of activities demonstrating good leadership and interpersonal skills.
