Position Summary: The Director of Development, Grateful Patient and Hospital Programs, will oversee the creation, implementation, and management of UNC Medicine's comprehensive grateful patient fundraising program. The goals are to create and manage a program that builds a pipeline of grateful patient prospects, engages clinicians, administrators, volunteers and others in the grateful patient process, and assists in creating a culture of gratitude throughout the UNC School of Medicine and UNC Hospitals. The program will include prospect identification, patient and family engagement, health care provider training, program tracking and reporting and the annual employee giving campaign. This position will manage one to two direct reports in addition to working directly with hospital and school leadership, physicians, faculty, nurses and staff.

Education Requirements: Bachelor's Degree required

Qualification and Experience: Candidates should have 5 or more years of comprehensive fundraising and management, or equivalent, with a proven track record of success in personally soliciting and closing gifts. Equivalent skills may include previous work in a non-profit, healthcare, or University setting, sales, marketing or event planning. Candidates must have strong verbal and written communication skills; excellent interpersonal skills and sound judgement; attention to detail and accuracy; creativity and problem-solving skills; proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Power Point; familiarity with the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Evening and weekend work and statewide travel will be a required part of the position.
