The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Associate position in the non-tenure clinician-educator track. The successful applicant will be accomplished in the area of Radiation Oncology with a focus on Medical Physics, and precision radiation therapy delivery in particular. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education, research, and clinical care. ABR board certification in therapeutic radiological physics is required. Experience in proton therapy, radiosurgery, and image-guided radiation treatment (IGRT) is preferred.

Penn Radiation Oncology is dedicated to a three-part mission of excellence in patient care, basic and translational research, and the education of residents and medical students. Penn Medicine delivers a broad range of radiation therapy services to its patients, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), high-dose rate (HDR) and low-dose rate brachytherapy, partial breast irradiation and stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS using Gamma Knife or Cyberknife). Located directly across the street from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, the Perelman Center for Advanced Medicine offers the latest radiation oncology equipment, including five state-of-the-art Varian linacs, a Varian HDR unit installed alongside a Varian Acuity Simulator with CBCT capability, two Siemens Sensation wide bore 4DCT simulators, a Siemens Definition Edge dual energy CT simulator, a Siemens wide bore Espree MRI unit and a Philips wide bore PET/wide bore CT unit. We provide a full range of radiation oncology services (IMRT, brachytherapy, TBI, SRS and SBRT) and have an active development program in all aspects of radiotherapy physics. We are also active in photodynamic therapy research. The Roberts Proton Therapy Center opened in the fall of 2009. It houses the largest proton therapy facility in the USA, comprising four gantry treatment rooms and one fixed beam room. Nearly all treatment rooms have been upgraded to the latest pencil beam scanning technology for intensity modulate proton therapy, with the last gantry treatment room scheduled for upgrade in 2019. The facility has gantry-mounted CBCT in all gantry rooms and fast beam switching among all rooms. The University of Pennsylvania, Radiation Oncology Department also supports seven satellite facilities variously equipped with a total of seven linacs, a GammaKnife unit, CyberKnife and two HDR units.
