The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is seeking applications for an Associate Controller for the Controller Office. This is a full-time, permanent staff position. The Controller’s Office is a unit of Financial Services that provides central business support and oversight for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, business process management and compliance, e-Commerce, financial reporting, fixed asset accounting, payroll, tax management, travel and other business payments and reimbursements. The Controller’s Office services the University community by providing quality financial services with a customer focus. Our mission is to uphold the University’s mission by facilitating ethical stewardship of fiscal resources and servicing the financial needs of the campus community.
Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university in Accounting, Business, Finance or other closely related degree, or Bachelor’s with equivalent experience.
Essential Job Duties: The incumbent for this position will manage the University’s strategies, policies, people, processes, technologies, compliance, controls, and reporting related to accounting and disbursements, including the following operational functions: daily cash management; general ledger accounting; reconciliations of bank accounts, activity transmitted to the State, subsidiary ledgers, and balance sheet accounts; accounting for debt service; accounts payable; purchasing card program; travel and complex payments; vendor setup. This position reports to the Controller and manages four direct reports/areas – Accounting Services; Accounts Payable; Travel & Complex Payments; P-card Program – with a total staff of approximately 20 FTE. This position is the “deputy” controller and makes decisions on behalf of the Controller in their absence.
