Post Doc Research Scholar

Essential Job Duties: The Post Doc Research Scholar will coordinate a project to study interactions of resident and released natural enemies of spider mites and thrips, leading to enhanced biological control in vegetable cropping systems. Success of the project will be assessed by quantifying impacts on pest populations, pesticide inputs for targeted pests, and economics of crop production. The project offers the opportunity to gain Extension experience by working directly with growers, extension agents and the crop protection industry in on-farm studies and educational programs. In addition to the research and extension responsibilities, the incumbent will be expected to publish in peer-reviewed journals, present results of the project at scientific and grower/commodity meetings, prepare project reports, and supervise technical staff and student workers.
Department Required Skills: * PhD in Entomology or closely related field. * Experience conducting applied, field-oriented research in the general area of integrated pest management or insect ecology. * Sound knowledge of statistics. * Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing with diverse audiences, and to work independently as well as in a team environment.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education: * PhD in entomology, with experience conducting field research in agricultural entomology. * Expertise in statistical analysis. * Strong organizational skills.
Necessary Licenses and Certifications: * Valid NC driver's license.
