Position Summary: The primary purpose of the Research Assistant Professor position is to conduct research to advance the development of new vaccines against dengue, Zika and related viruses. The research will focus on the design, production, and characterization of recombinant vaccine antigens as well as the evaluation of vaccine antigens in animal models for immunogenicity. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: supervising research technicians and students in the laboratory, designing and performing all aspects of an experiment, interpreting the data, analyzing findings, preparing data for presentation to the scientific community by writing papers, presenting the work at National and International meetings and obtaining external grant funding for research.

Education Requirements: Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Virology or a related field.

Qualification and Experience: Essential Skills: Expertise in molecular virology. Expertise in laboratory methods for the study of BSL-2 RNA viruses. Expertise in expression, purification and characterization of recombinant proteins. Expertise in the use of immune assays to measure antigen-specific mouse and human antibody responses. Preferred Skills: Expertise in dengue and Zika virology. Design and execution of vaccine immunogenicity and efficacy studies in small animal models. Established record of peer reviewed publications.
