Description
The School of Design and Creative Technologies (SDCT) at The University of Texas at Austin (UT) invites applications for a faculty position in the field of Audio Technology, with a start date of August 2019. Rank is open.

We seek a highly-skilled specialist in the field of advanced computational audio technologies and methodologies especially as applied to commercial and popular music genres and game audio. The candidate will be responsible for developing and leading a program in audio technology and music/sound production consistent with the expectations of our Bachelor of Science in Arts and Entertainment Technologies (AET). Typical teaching loads in the AET program are three, three-credit courses per term. Undergraduate courses may include: psychoacoustics, audio signal processing, audio programming (C++), game audio systems (WISE), audio spatialization and introductory courses in Music and Sound.

This is a full-time position on a nine-month basis. Faculty are free to pursue external professional interests during the summer months. The position is open to all levels of applicants. If a hire is made in tenure track (or tenured) rank, a substantial and active research portfolio is required. If a hire is made in non-tenure track rank, the position will focus primarily on undergraduate-level teaching.


Qualifications
The candidate will hold a Ph.D. and have had several years of university teaching in the general domain of music technology including advanced knowledge of computational music and sound processes and knowledge of game audio technologies. The candidate will have published research in digital audio signal processing and/or more generally in \u201ccomputer music\u201d especially as it applies to game sound, sound design and the creation of audio software components. The candidate will have demonstrable teaching experience in the field of digital audio software development such as the design, creation and coding of audio plugins.

The School of Design and Creative Technologies was founded in 2017 as the fourth major academic unit in the College of Fine Arts, alongside the Department of Art and Art History, the Butler School of Music, and the Department of Theatre and Dance. The SDCT houses the Department of Design, the Department of Arts and Entertainment Technologies, the Center for Integrated Design, the Design Institute for Health, and the Bridging Disciplines Programs in Digital Arts & Media and Design Strategies.
