Assistant Professor/Endowed Chair of Contemporary Keyboard
The University of Miami Frost School of Music is accepting applications for a full-time tenure track Assistant Professor of Contemporary Keyboard beginning in the Fall 2019 Term.
The successful candidate will have a strong record of accomplishment and demonstrated expertise as a contemporary/popular music keyboardist/pianist with experience in arranging, musical direction, programming, production, recording, and songwriting. Candidate will have significant experience and track record with modern keyboard techniques, writing/collaborating across genres, teaching contemporary/popular music theory, working with Logic Pro and Mainstage, and live performance with a variety of contemporary/popular music ensembles. The successful candidate will also have a strong and significant record of accomplishment as an educator in higher learning. The salary is competitive.
Principal duties include teaching and/or administering courses related to contemporary/popular music keyboard, recruiting and teaching contemporary keyboardists and songwriters, teaching contemporary/ popular music theory, directing/overseeing the American Music Ensemble. The successful candidate will oversee and administer the Sterbenz Endowment in Contemporary Music Studies and also participate in auditions, juries, recruiting, and outreach activities. The successful candidate may also be considered for appointment as Program Director of the Musicianship, Artistry Development, & Entrepreneurship (MADE) program.

Qualifications:
- Substantive credits as a contemporary/popular music keyboard performer.
- Demonstrated expertise in modern keyboard-related technology including Logic Pro and Mainstage.
- Demonstrated expertise in teaching contemporary/popular music theory.
- Demonstrated expertise in teaching non-traditional music students.
- Demonstrated expertise in musical direction.
- A master’s degree in music or higher is required. Exceptional professional experience may be considered in lieu of advance degree.
