The University of Miami is searching for a senior scholar (Professor) in Sociology in one of the three fields of specialization in which the department has existing strengths: Criminology; Medical Sociology; and Race, Ethnic Relations, and Immigration. Candidates must demonstrate a distinguished record of research and teaching, including external grant/contract funding if appropriate to their field; furthermore, they must possess proven leadership and administrative skills. The successful candidate will assume the administrative position of Chairperson of the department beginning in Fall 2020 in a dynamic community of scholars that pursue research and educate undergraduate students who major and minor in Sociology and Criminology; Master’s students in Criminology & Criminal Justice; and PhD students in the three areas mentioned above.
