The University of Miami invites applications for a clinical assistant professor, non-tenure track full-time faculty position in the Higher Education Leadership and Administration programs, beginning August 15, 2019. The Higher Education Program in the School of Education & Human Development’s Department of Educational and Psychological Studies is based in enrollment management and was the first of its kind in the nation. In addition to the Executive Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership, we offer a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration via three innovative tracks: Enrollment Management; Student Life & Development; and Institutional Research & Policy Analysis. Our program focuses on preparing reflective, data-driven decision makers, practitioners with a strong theory-to-practice orientation, applied researchers, and leaders of colleges, universities and related educational organizations.
We seek candidates with both scholarly interests and practical experience in higher education administration, particularly institutional research and its essential role in organizational effectiveness, including meeting the institution’s mission and values and supporting strategic enrollment management; strong teaching credentials, including developing and teaching online courses; and a solid foundation in the conduct of research, analysis, interpretation and reporting of data and other information used to assess institutional effectiveness, student success, and strategic planning. The successful applicant is expected to assume a primary role in the newest addition to our highly successful Master of Science in Education program, the Institutional Research & Policy Analysis (IR&PA) track, devising and teaching its core class in institutional research and helping to advance overall curriculum development. We also expect the clinical assistant professor to help recruit promising students from around the world to the IR&PA track, and to coordinate the Higher Education Program’s annual assessments, overseeing submission of data related to accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).

Responsibilities:

Teaching graduate level courses, including the core class in institutional research; developing and coordinating the IR&PA track to the master’s degree; helping to advise master’s program students whose study focus is institutional research; coordinating existing assessment protocols in the Higher Education programs and preparing and submitting our annual assessment report related to accreditation; and assisting the program director with program related activities.

Qualifications:

Doctorate in Higher Education, Statistics and Research Methods, or related field.  Demonstrated excellence in graduate teaching, experience advising and mentoring graduate students, and at least two years of related experience. A strong record of scholarly activity is preferred, especially research that embraces our multicultural vision and mission of the department and the school.
