Clinical Activities:

Primarily assigned to work on the Cancer Support Service of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center providing psychosocial services to cancer patients and the Consultation-Liaison service at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Evaluation and treatment of patients with psychiatric diagnoses consistent with expertise for patients who are referred to the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and affiliated hospitals. Rotate in the faculty call schedule. Additional clinical duties may be assigned at the University of Miami Hospital, affiliated teaching hospitals and UMMG faculty practice.

Teaching and Mentoring:

The University, Department and Cancer Center place a premium on high quality teaching. The

incumbent will participate in direct patient care and supervision of medical students, residents, and fellows.

Additional duties may be assigned by the Department’s Chair or Vice Chair


Radu Saveanu, M.D., Executive Vice Chairman of the Department and William Pirl, M.D., Chief of Psychiatric Oncology, will be your mentors and support you in adjusting to the University and faculty status during your first year of employment.
