Assistant/Associate Professor and Extension Specialist

Job description

As a member of the Foods and Nutrition Department, the new faculty member will: 1) Provide program leadership and serve as Principal Investigator (PI) for the Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program and/or other externally funded nutrition education programs for limited resource households; 2) Engage in collaborations to develop grant proposals to obtain external funding for nutrition education programs and provide educational programs targeted to limited resource households; 3) Develop, implement and evaluate program content for eligible individuals and families; 4) Provide expertise in nutrition and innovative educational approaches including program evaluation to county Extension agents and other partners; 5) Work collaboratively to explore new technology as appropriate to enhance knowledge and initiate behavior change; 6) Enhance research opportunities for graduate students and engage students in nutrition/health-related community outreach and Extension programs for limited resource audiences; 7) Serve as a conduit for nutrition and health expertise to be communicated to Extension agents and other outreach partners and provide nutrition research updates to County Extension Agents; 8) Develop and/or revise nutrition/foods program content and assessment tools; 9) Publish findings in refereed journals; 10) Network at national, regional and state levels to communicate research findings with key leaders and enhance program development to ensure implementation with an on-going evaluation component; 11) Support 4-H programs through leadership for and participation in foods and nutrition project competitions and development of educational materials and initiatives for 4-H audiences.
