The Department of Food Science and Technology at the University of Georgia is seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to teach and develop a research program in the area of food chemistry.

Specific responsibilities include: (1) teach and develop two to three undergraduate/graduate courses in the Food Science curriculum; (2) establish an extramurally funded research program; (3) direct PhD and MS degree students; and (4) advise undergraduates. The successful candidate will actively participate in the teaching, research, and service activities in the Department of Food Science and Technology including participation in global programs. Candidate will have the opportunity to work on collaborative projects with other groups on campus and local government agencies. Possible research areas include food proteins and proteomics, food enzymes, bioactive peptides, flavor chemistry, and the impact of processing on the chemistry and quality of foods. Low-priority will be given to applicants with research emphasis on phytochemicals and lipids. The individual in this position will be expected to achieve a record of scholarly activity as evidenced by publications, successful extramural funding, success in teaching university level courses, and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.

40% Teaching, 60% Research (Full-time, 9 month academic year, Tenure Track)
