Lecturer in Collaborative Piano

Job description

The Department of Music at the University of Rhode Island anticipates a full-time lecturer position in Collaborative Piano beginning the 2019-2020 academic year.  Position is limited to 06-30-2020 with anticipated renewal.

Act as coordinator of accompanying, each semester assigning collaborative pianists to applied music students and to ensembles, as well as informing the department chair of any issues relating to collaborative piano within the department.  Accompany vocal and instrumental students in lessons, ensembles and performances as required in the curriculum.  Perform in concert with faculty colleagues at the university.  Serve as a member of the jury committee for piano at the end of each semester.  Listen to auditions of potential incoming pianists (when not playing for incoming student vocal and instrumental auditions).  Serve on the panel adjudicating piano proficiency examinations. Teach applied/class piano courses according to departmental needs. Teach courses in the specialty area (such as piano accompanying) according to departmental needs. Serve on departmental committees as appropriate. Assist in departmental recruiting as appropriate.
