The President of Franklin University invites nominations and applications for the position of Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs.

About Franklin University

Franklin University is an accredited nonprofit private university in Columbus, Ohio. Franklin also operates a residential branch campus, Urbana University. The University serves about 6000 undergraduates, 1700 master’s students and 300 doctoral students in both face-to-face and online formats. There are four academic colleges led by Deans, along with a Dean of Doctoral Studies. Instruction is provided by 80 full time and about 800 part time faculty. The University also operates the International Institute for Innovative Instruction, which designs all Franklin courses and also provides contract services to external partners. About the Position of Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

The SVPAA’s most important responsibility is the preservation and enhancement of academic quality and student learning. The successful candidate will have the following experience, knowledge and qualities:

  • College level teaching experience, preferably in both face-to-face and online formats.
  • A demonstrated understanding of instructional design principles, of modern methods for the assessment of student learning, of learning management systems, and oversight of full and part time faculty.
  • Significant leadership experience, preferably in institutions that include both face-to-face and online modalities, multiple campus locations and a mature student demographic.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development of new academic programs and in the assessment, refinement and winnowing of existing academic programs.
  • Financial and business acumen sufficient to engage constructively in a fast-moving and entrepreneurial organizational climate.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage constructively with external stakeholders.
  • An earned doctoral degree from a regionally accredited institution.

This position provides a highly competitive base salary, an outstanding benefits package and a performance-based financial incentive plan with a semi-annual cash payout.
