The University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH), one of the nation's premier doctoral research universities located in one of the South's most culturally rich and economically robust cities, seeks nominations and applications for the next President. The successful candidate will succeed Dr. Robert Altenkirch, who is retiring in 2019 after a transformational nine-year tenure. For a detailed list of candidate attributes and qualifications along with a full UAH profile visit: https://academic-search.com/sites/default/files/UAHPresidentProfile.pdf.

UAH: The 500+ acre residential campus is a hub of innovation and cross-disciplinary collaboration, with the fourth successive year of record enrollment (currently 9,700+) and $97 million in annual research expenditures. Programs in nine well-established colleges range from music and the arts to atmospheric science, business management, nursing, engineering and cybersecurity. This year's freshman class has the highest average ACT score (28.5) in UAH history and an average GPA of 3.88. Major capital investments in dorms, classrooms and infrastructure have created a state-of-the-art campus that draws students from throughout the nation and worldwide. Consistently ranking among national leaders in NSF, NASA and DoD funding, UAH is recognized for collaborative partnerships with global innovators in science, technology and business.

UAH is one of three doctoral institutions comprising the University of Alabama System, which also includes the world-renowned UAB Health System. A $6 billion enterprise, the UA System is a major driver for economic, intellectual and cultural growth regionally and nationally. Overall System enrollment exceeds 70,000 students, and the hospitals and clinics serve 1+ million patients annually.

The City and Region: Centrally located in the Tennessee Valley of Northern Alabama, Huntsville is a prosperous and diverse city with a metro population of more than 450,000 and one of the highest per capita incomes in the Southeast. Huntsville has been dubbed one of the nation's "New Silicon Cities" (Wall Street Journal), one of the South's most-educated cities and one of the best college towns. Huntsville and Madison County are among the most affordable places to live in America.

Candidate Selection: Nominations and applications will be reviewed as received and continue until the position is filled. Those received by February 1, 2019, will be given full consideration. Nominations, applications and inquiries may be sent in confidence. Candidate materials (to include a letter of interest, CV and full contact information for five references – who will not be contacted without permission) must be electronically submitted to UAHPresident@academic-search.com.
