Advertised Job Summary: The Rural and Minority Health Research Center at the University of South Carolina is soliciting applications for a grant-funded Postdoctoral Fellow. Under the guidance of the Center Director Dr. Jan Eberth, the Postdoctoral Fellow will be responsible for the implementation of funded health services and policy research projects focused on healthcare workforce shortages and health outcomes of rural populations. Successful applicants will have strong statistical and data management skills, as well as experience working with a variety of individual and area-level databases. Preference will be given to applicants with additional skills in mixed methods research, claims-based analyses, and/or geospatial analysis. Knowledge of rural health issues and definitions is strongly preferred. Responsibilities will vary and may include primary data collection and analysis of health provider and systems data; secondary data analysis of area- and patient-level data; federal project reporting; preparation of research and policy briefs; and manuscript writing. Minimum Qualifications (Classified and Unclassified positions): Doctoral Degree in Public Health or closely related field by date of employment Experience and technical proficiency using statistical software (STATA, SAS, SUDDAN) Experience or distinct interest in rural health and minority health disparities Available for state and national travel
