Assist students in navigating transition into and throughout their college experience by fostering holistic growth, community membership, Bomber pride, and encouraging active citizenship. Contribute to a supportive and inclusive environment on campus that complements the academic experience, connects and engages all students with the Ithaca College community, and provides support for students' transitions. Lead the development and implementation of First-Generation and Sophomore Year Experience programs. Assist in the implementation of other programs and initiatives offered by the office including programs that support first-year, transfer, & veteran students as well as family engagement. Participate in the evaluation and assessment of the transitional needs and experiences of all first-generation and sophomore students. Serve as a liaison to other college departments to enhance the awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the diversity of interests and needs of first-generation and sophomore populations. Manage the administration of all program functions and budgets for first-generation and sophomore programs and operations.
Position/Job Responsibilities
1. Assist the Director in providing direction and strategic planning for the Office of New Student and Transition Programs, including development and implementation of long and short-term first-generation and sophomore student goals and objectives.

2. Administer and monitor budgets for first-generation and sophomore year experience programs.

3. Evaluate and assess the transition needs and experiences of first-generation and sophomore student populations and provide transitional support services including; assisting students in obtaining appropriate resources and academic support services and provide referrals to other campus offices. Work in collaboration with administration, faculty, staff, and students from across campus to develop, plan, and implement associated campus wide programs.

4. Develop and coordinate new first generation student initiatives and a sophomore year experience program in collaboration with campus partners. Communicate with students and family members participating in these initiatives. Provide guidance and direction to the administrative assistant on processes related to first-generation student initiatives and sophomore year experience programs, including budget.

5. Assist with Ithaca College's Orientation and continuing orientation programs as well as other major first-year experience initiatives prioritized by the office. This includes serving on duty during orientation sessions.

6. Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.

7. Oversee the development of the first-generation and sophomore year experience websites, promotional materials, forms, documents, myIthaca outreach, and publications to accommodate the needs of the students and campus community, working in partnership with College Relations and Communications. Develop and share publication materials for first-generation and sophomore students via electronic newsletters and/or social media outreach.

8. Work to develop, create and assess learning opportunities for first-generation and sophomore-year students. Assist faculty, staff, administration, and student organizations in the development of programs to address transition, academic, personal, and social issues first-generation and sophomore students by conducting group studies, surveys and focus groups; assist and encourage students to initiate surveys and research in order to determine needs and interests. Evaluate results and present information and data.

9. Serve as a consultant to various campus offices and advise or supervise student groups and organizations in analyzing and developing programs, activities, services and events.

10. Serve as an advisor and advocate for assigned student organizations and participate in the recognition processes. Represent the Office of New Student and Transition Programs. Serve as a member of campus-wide, divisional, and departmental committees and task forces as appropriate.
Position/Job Qualifications
Master's degree and a minimum of 2 years of experience in higher education and working with population-specific programming; demonstrated ability to design, evaluate and implement targeted experience programs, knowledge of student development theory, proven success working with student populations in an advising or mentoring role; ability to work independently and as a member of a team, strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment; budget management, and the ability to work evenings and weekends in support of campus events are required. Experience working with first-generation and sophomore student programs preferred.

The Office of New Student & Transition Programs is newly reorganized to support students' transitions into and though college at IC. We support First-Year, First-Gen, Sophomore, Transfer, and Veteran students. We will soon integrate family engagement initiatives into our portfolio.
