POSITION SUMMARY:

The Concessions Associate is responsible for operating Modlin concessions services during scheduled events. This includes setting up and breaking down, inventory control, sales, money handling, storage of all supplies, and proper handling of alcoholic beverages, per the Virginia Department of Alcohol and Beverage Control.

Applications for this position will be accepted on a continuous basis, however, review of applications will only be conducted twice a year: a November/December review for spring semester hires and a July/August review for fall semester hires.

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Sales and Customer Service (50%)

  • Set up all concessions equipment and supplies, including food and beverage, according to established procedures. Break down, properly store, and restock all supplies.
  • Keep accurate inventory of snack bar, alcoholic beverages, and supplies and reconcile financial transactions. Assist in ordering/procuring supplies, as necessary.
  • Handle money and other forms of legal tender in compliance with established procedures.
  • Understand and use point of sale system and software as trained.
  • Provide consistent, excellent customer service.

Management and Communication (50%)

  • Ensure compliance with all Virginia Department of Alcohol and Beverage Control regulations to include distribution, service, security, inventory, and record-keeping for alcoholic beverages.
  • Complete required paperwork and settlement reports.
  • Assist in clean up of designated areas.
  • Train and oversee concessions workers.
  • May be asked to perform other duties as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to work in a positive manner in a team setting and deal courteously with all University clients, faculty, staff, and co-workers.
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service.
  • Provide excellent communication and reporting skills.
  • Ability to assume responsibility and work independently without direct supervision.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, with extended irregular work hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Understand cash and accounting systems as trained.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Strong people and communication skills.
  • Candidates must adhere to Virginia ABC rules, regulations and laws.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or educational equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience in retail sales or customer service preferred.

WORK HOURS:

  • This is a temporary position that works as needed. Primarily evening and weekend hours with flexibility required depending on production schedule and need.
