Job description

GENERAL POSITION DESCRIPTION: Assist students in setting and achieving appropriate educational and career
goals and to provide students encouragement and personal support. Services include academic advising, career
services, orientation, and educational planning. This position receives general supervision from the Associate Director,
Advising and Career Services and exercises no supervision. NOTE: This is a security sensitive position and an
appropriate background investigation will be made on applicants being strongly considered for this position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Mast􀁈􀁕􀂶􀁖􀀃􀁇􀁈􀁊􀁕􀁈􀁈􀀃􀁉􀁕􀁒􀁐􀀃􀁄􀁑􀀃􀁄􀁆􀁆􀁕􀁈􀁇􀁌􀁗􀁈􀁇􀀃college or university.
Experience: More than one year of professional work experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: 􀀰􀁄􀁖􀁗􀁈􀁕􀂶􀁖􀀃􀁇􀁈􀁊􀁕􀁈􀁈􀀃􀁉􀁕􀁒􀁐􀀃􀁄􀁑􀀃􀁄􀁆􀁆􀁕􀁈􀁇􀁌􀁗􀁈􀁇􀀃􀁆􀁒􀁏􀁏􀁈􀁊􀁈􀀃􀁒􀁕􀀃􀁘􀁑􀁌􀁙􀁈􀁕􀁖􀁌􀁗􀁜􀀃􀁌􀁑 higher education, counseling, or social work.
Experience: Professional experience in academic, career or personal counseling setting. Professional experience in
higher education setting.

both orally and in writing, with students and colleagues. 8. Active listening, demonstrating ability to empower and
respect diverse perspectives presented by students and colleagues. 9. Problem solving, demonstrating ability to
equitably serve unique needs of students and colleagues. 10. Inquiry, demonstrating ability to learn and adapt services
according to the needs of students and colleagues. 11. Organization, demonstrating ability to manage multiple complex
tasks concurrently. 12. Leadership, demonstrating ability to serve students and colleagues with professionalism and
integrity. Ability to: 13. Advise students regarding coursework needs to meet educational program requirements and
achieve individual long-term career goals. 14. Interpret standardized tests/scores. 15. Interpret and apply federal, state,
and college policies, procedures, rules, and regulations. 16. Maintain confidentiality and sensitive information. 17. Serve
students respectfully and professionally, maintaining appropriate boundaries with students. 18. Establish and maintain
collaborative, caring relationships with students and colleagues. 19. Communicate with students and colleagues clearly,
concisely, and assertively, both orally and in writing, while fostering a supportive, relational environment. 20. Determine
specific needs of individual students and provide appropriate support and resources. 21. Provide academic and career
coaching support in a variety of situations and environments.
WORKING CONDITIONS: Desk work; occasional field trips e.g. for college or program activities. Insignificant effort other
than normal movement. Minimal Hazard/Exposure: Standard office setting. At least minimal environmental controls to
assure health and comfort.
