Assistant Provost for Academic Planning and Resource Management  

Reports To:  Provost                                                                

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Provost, the Assistant Provost for Academic Planning and Resource Management oversees the Academic Sector's operating budget of approximately $200 million.  He/she provides leadership for academic planning, budgeting and space management while ensuring effective fiscal management, control, and alignment with the University's strategic priorities. 
 

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the academic sector's annual faculty/admin/staff hiring, budgeting and space plans, and subsequently coordinate, implement, and monitor approved plans with the Schools/Colleges, other academic units (Enrollment Management, Student Affairs, Global, Academic Support Services, Institutional Research, etc.), Office of Business Affairs, and the Office of Facilities Services.

  • Create strategies, planning tools, and analyses that assist and guide the University in decisions about resource allocation and new program development, including short-term, long-term and one-time initiatives.

  • Provide planning, fiscal and space management support to the Provost and academic units.

  • Oversee the Summer Sessions budget; coordinate marketing initiatives for Summer Sessions with the Office of Enrollment Management; and monitor fiscal outcomes for Summer Sessions.

  • Work with the Provost and the Deans to develop strategies and practices that enhance academic planning.

  • Oversee and coordinate with the Budget/Planning positions in each of the schools.

  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Ph.D. preferred.

  • Minimum of ten years experience and five years at managerial level in a university setting.

  • Proven fiscal management and academic planning skills.

  • Strong leadership skills within the context of consultative management of diverse and competing interests is essential.

  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

  • Creative and analytical thinking are required.

  • Ability to work independently and on a team.
