Job description

Delaware County Community College (The College) is seeking an innovative leader for the position of Dean of Digital Learning and Teaching Innovation.

The dean will report directly to the provost and will be responsible for providing leadership and direction for the Online Campus, Educational Technology, and the Virginia M. Carter Center for Excellence in Teaching (Carter Center). The Dean of Digital Learning and Teaching Innovation will work collaboratively with faculty, deans, governance committees, and the provost to establish the strategic vision, direction and goals for digital learning; the advancement of educational technology; and teaching innovation and faculty professional development. The dean will supervise the Director of Online Learning, educational technology specialists, instructional designers, and the work of the faculty Director of the Carter Center for Excellence in Teaching.

The dean, in collaboration with the faculty and the academic deans, will facilitate the development, implementation, and certification of online courses and programs; promote digital learning; and advance the development of the Online Campus. Working with other college deans and faculty, and the faculty Director of the Carter Center, the dean will lead the efforts to identify and promote the scholarship of teaching, learning and engagement; innovative instructional design; and the development of a robust infrastructure to support faculty professional development and the integration of technology into teaching and learning.

A master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution in the following areas: instructional design; curriculum development; educational technology; or higher education with a concentration in instructional design, curriculum, or educational technology required (Doctoral degree preferred); or Master’s degree or higher in academic discipline or higher education leadership (Doctoral degree preferred) with five years’ experience in educational technology, online learning, or instructional design. Five years of experience in a management position, including budget management, preferably in a community college environment, or other relevant experience which would demonstrate the ability to lead the College’s Digital Learning and Teaching Innovation Division. Demonstrated experience in developing online programs and courses; experience in online instructional design and experience with teaching in an online environment; demonstrated leadership and academic project management; strong communication and interpersonal skills; experience with online education and enrollment growth strategies, as well as demonstrated knowledge of technological advancements and trends in distance education; and knowledge of student-centered learning theories.



The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience.
