Experience Requirement: At least 3 years of experience in an academic institution teaching at the graduate or professional level, with medical school experience preferred.

Usual Duties: The Proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine at Sam Houston State University is seeking a full-time, tenure track neuroscience faculty member. The successful candidate will be responsible for instruction using various teaching methods with a focus on active learning. The majority of instruction will be in the Foundations of Biomedical Sciences course, but the neuroscience faculty member will also participate in small groups and active learning in the clinical systems courses. All faculty members are expected to participate in scholarly activity, service to the college and student mentoring. The successful candidate will participate in the education of medical students under the direction of the chair of the Department. The individual will collaborate with faculty in other biomedical and clinical science departments at SHSU-COM to provide for a vertically integrated curriculum; provide instruction using various methods of content delivery, including active learning, small group, and other interactive approaches; and participate in the writing of test questions based on NBOME and USMLE styles. Additionally, the individual will act as faculty advisor and participate in the selection of students and perform other duties as assigned.

Degree Requirements: PhD or equivalent degree in physiology, molecular biology, neurobiology or related field from an accredited university with postdoctoral experience. A DO or MD degree with appropriate experience may also apply.

Other Requirements for the Position: Candidate should have experience obtaining extramural funding for research projects and creating educational materials. Must possess effective communication skills in speech and writing.
