CU South Denver has an opening for a full-time University Staff (unclassified) PR and Content Specialist position.

Jobs in this career family involve development, marketing and management of messaging to both internal and external parties. Functions include marketing; advertising; communications; publications; brand management; writing; editing; proofreading; graphic design; web information architecture, development and design; web content development; electronic communications; social media; news media/relations; public relations; photography; videography; radio/television broadcasting; FCC compliance; and communication projects management.

Professionals are responsible for exercising discretion, analytical skill, personal accountability and responsibility in a wide range of areas including academic, administrative, managerial and student services functions. Work involves creating, integrating, applying and sharing knowledge directly related to a professional field. At the professional level, duties may be more limited in scope, may be performed with guidance and direction from other professionals, or may be performed in a training and development capacity.

Summary of Work:

This position is responsible for writing and executing content and communication activities for the University of Colorado's South Denver location. Working with the Director of Marketing and Sales and Marketing Lead Manager, this position will be responsible for ensuring all internal and external content and communications--including but not limited to press releases, media pitches, social media, external newsletters, blogs, web content, stories, and other writing--are developed and implemented in a timely, high quality, error -free manner. This position is also the main contact for media and is responsible for building media relations.

Salary and Benefits:

Hiring salary has been established as $46,000

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a marketing or communications role


SUBSTITUTION:

  • Professional level experience in a marketing or communications role may substitute for the bachelor's degree requirement on a year for year basis.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in marketing, advertising, public relations, events promotion or communications field
  • Experience with WordPress or other content management systems
  • Experience with Google analytics and online marketing tools and practices Experience in social analytics
  • Experience proofing and editing, understanding of AP style
  • Experience writing press releases and media pitches
  • Experience writing feature stories and web content Experience with project management, timelines and ensuring on-time deliverables.
