Job Summary

The University of Colorado Boulder College of Music invites applications for an Assistant Director of Bands. This position is a non-tenure track, three-year renewable appointment as an Instructor. This position requires expertise in concert bands, athletic bands, and music education. Appointment to commence in July 2019.

Who We Are

The College of Music offers degree program in Performance, Musicology, Composition, and Music Education from the Bachelor’s Degree through the Doctorate. There are 300 undergraduate and 250 graduate music majors within the College taught by 58 full-time and 23 part-time faculty.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Duties include assisting the "Golden Buffalo" Marching Band in drill design, instruction, and organization; Direct the Men’s and Women’s Basketball Bands; Conduct the Concert Band; Teach a course in marching band techniques; Supervise student teachers; Advise undergraduate students in music education; other related courses as assigned. Opportunities for additional summer teaching and administration are possible.

What We Require

Master’s Degree. Demonstrated success teaching music at the university and secondary school levels as well as collegiate marching band drill design experience.
