Department Overview
The Engineering group within the Facilities Planning, Design & Construction Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Mechanical Engineer to join our team.

Facilities Planning, Design and Construction (FPDC) consists of six sub-groups: Campus Planning, Auxiliary Planning, Engineering, Estimating, Construction Inspection, and Facilities Information Services. The primary purpose of FPDC is to oversee planning, design, renovation and construction efforts to physical facilities on the UNT Denton campus and to maintain all building records for the campus. FPDC is responsible for serving the campus as a resource for estimating, site design, architectural, landscape and interior design, construction management, furniture procurement, campus mapping, space analysis, & long-range planning services and ensuring compliance with all applicable State & Federal statutes, laws and codes related to State buildings, procurement and construction. FPDC also maintains building records for all campus facilities including utility & infrastructure maps, surveys, site plans, floor plans, construction documents, & other building records. We also act in an advisory capacity for System managed projects.

The Facilities organization at UNT is a service provider comprised of the following divisions FPDC; Facilities Maintenance (FM) and Facilities Support & Services (FSS). We are responsible for the planning, renovation, maintenance and repair of university buildings and facilities, as well as other services playing an essential role to the mission of the University of North Texas. Job Description
The Facilities Department at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire an Mechanical Engineer to join our team. Responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:

* Serve as Project Manager and main point of contact for building occupants on extensive MEP (Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) renovation projects. Will lead and coordinate all activities of Design Engineer during Design, General Contractor during construction, and will oversee Commissioning and Test and Balance work. Will inspect the work of ongoing projects ensure quality and completeness and adherence to the Campus Design Guidelines.

* Provide analysis of existing mechanical systems of campus buildings for condition assessment, operating capacity, functionality, compatibility with associated systems and use of spaces served. Will assist the Shops to troubleshoot existing mechanical system issues. Will provide a detailed scope and recommendation of corrective work to be performed.

* Provide detailed engineering review of design drawings, specifications, and submittals for construction projects for remodeling, renovation, repair, replacement or new construction. Will ensure documents adhere to applicable codes, Campus Design Guidelines, and MEP systems are designed to meet the needs and best interest of the University.

* Will make recommendations and keep the MEP (Mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) sections of the Campus Design Guidelines up to date.

* Will review and provide comments and analysis of all Commissioning, Test and Balance reports, and DDC control sequences.

* Provide assessment of new technologies, equipment and systems for related mechanical equipment to evaluate the total value to the University.

* Prepare and present reports, documents, programs, or drawings to management or staff as assigned.

* Will serve as a resource for all Departments within UNT Facilities providing technical support and engineering expertise.

* Prepare and present training sessions for staff for various topics as assigned.

* Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. The following knowledge, skills, and abilities are required:

* Work experience that demonstrates increasing responsibility in management of institutional renovation and new construction projects for owner-clients.
* Strong knowledge of applicable building codes, including IBC, IECC, and ASHRAE Standards and Guidelines.
* Experience with energy modeling software.
* Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical engineering, HVAC systems, and building automation and control systems.
* Experience in the design, installation, maintenance, operation, and
commissioning of large HVAC systems, industrial plants, or facilities mechanical systems.
* Experience in construction of laboratories, offices, and other facilities, including HVAC and plumbing systems.
* Experience with HVAC system analysis, troubleshooting, and energy efficiency improvements.

Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:

* LEED AP certification.
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
* Registered professional engineer.
* Strong knowledge of applicable building codes, including IBC, IECC, and ASHRAE Standards and Guidelines.
* Experience with energy modeling software.
* Comprehensive knowledge of mechanical engineering, HVAC systems, and building automation and control systems.
