Position Details
The Microbiology, Immunology & Genetics Department at the University of North Texas Health Science Center is seeking to hire an Assistant Professor to join our team.
Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
* Teaching and mentoring of students.
* Establish intramural and extramural research programs.
* Participate in the activities of the departmental committees.
* Provide general support and guidance to students.
* Maintain own continuing professional development.
* Maintain a safe work environment, including ensuring compliance with legislation and the undertaking of risk assessments.
* Pursue, develop and lead research, innovation and impact at an appropriately professional level in the fields of cancer and health disparity.
* Develop a strategic direction with own research focus area in cancer biology.
* Collaborate within and outside the school and faculty.
* Maintain a high-quality record of research publications in cancer biology and health disparity.
* Seek outside research support in an individual and/or collaborative manner to support high quality research.
* Supervise students undertaking research projects as appropriate.
* Contribute to the overall administrative and support work of UNTHSC and/or equivalent external organizations by representing the school and faculty on appropriate committees and groups and activities.
* Promote the values of UNTHSC.
* Promote and be in accordance with UNTHSC values, upholding high professional standards and leading by example.
* Other activities assigned by the department chair.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will possess the following required qualifications:
* Doctoral degree.
* Research experience in prostate and/or breast cancer biology and health disparity.
* Evidence of publications in peer-reviewed reputed journals relevant to the fields of cancer biology.
* Active research program in prostate and breast cancer biology and health disparity.
* At least 3-4 years of current research grant support from external federal agency such as NIH.
* Mentoring experience for undergraduate and/or graduate students.
