MEDICAL PHYSICS RESIDENT
Duke Health - Medical Physics ResidentTwo training positions will be available starting July 1, 2019 in theMedical Physics Residencyprogram. Duration of the programis 2 years for clinical training.Successful applicants will berecent graduates of medical physics or closely related graduateprogram. Both M.S. and Ph.D.degreeswill be considered. The program is primarily clinical training, butincludes research andeducational components (based on the background, the selected candidatemay be required totakecourses in the Medical Physics Graduate Program). The program is CAMPEP accredited.Facility and Equipment:The Radiation Oncology Department includes Duke University Medical Center and several affiliated hospitals. Within the Duke main campus, there are eight line araccelerators (seven with Cone-beam CTand gating capability, 3 True Beam, one True beam STx and one Novalis Txboth with high-definition MLC for SRS/SBRT as well as Exactrac system and 6D adjustable robotic treatment table,), two HDR units,three multi-slice CT Simulators with 4D capability, one 3T MRI scanner,and one large-bore PET/CT scanner. Special procedures offered include IMRT/VMAT, IGRT, SRS, SBRT,TSI, TBI, HDR brachy therapy,Intra-Op brachy therapy with HDR, low-dose rate brachy therapy and eye plaque brachy therapy.Employer and Environment:Duke Health is one of the premier research and teaching hospitals in the United States. It is the teaching hospital for the Duke University Medical School. It promotes a friendly and healthy(tobacco free) working environment. The Medical Physics Division within the Department of Radiation Oncology is composed of 33 faculty/staff Medical Physicists, more than10 Dosimetrists, 2 IT Analyst, and 4 Medical Physics Residents. Faculty in the Medical Physics Division are actively involved in the Medical Physics Graduate Program, one of the largest in the nation. Additionally,several postdoctoral fellows and graduate students are involved in research/thesis/dissertation activities.

MS or PhD degree from a CAMPEP-certificated medical physics graduateprogram or CAMPEP-certificated Medical Physics Certification programsfor those with PhDs in other related fields.
