Job Responsibilities:

The project coordinator will work directly Program Directors of the growing portfolio of international research, training and service programs in East Africa. The programs include MEPI Medical Education Partnership Initiative-Junior Faculty (MEPI-JF), Sociobehavioral Sciences and HIV Research Training Program, Health Professions Education Partnership Initiative (HEPI), and Investigating the Causes of Febrile Death in Tanzania (INDITe). The project coordinator will work across different departments and programs to identify opportunities, develop programs, and create systems for continuous quality improvement. She/ he will provide general leadership support to the Program Directors and faculty.

Specifically;

# Develop work plans for the projects along with monitoring and evaluation plans.

# Support the KCMC-Duke Collaboration Partnership through communications, procurement and operations.

# Must be prepared to attend early morning conference calls due to time zone differences, and travel may be required.

# Identify, cultivate and solicit new sponsors and partnerships with domestic and foreign organizations; negotiate and manage contracts with outside vendors and independent contractors for services.

# Provides support to faculty in the pre and post award grants administration.

# Prepare articles and presentations or collaborate with others to prepare articles for journals, newsletters and other publications.

# Plan and coordinate research and training workshops and seminars for international program development, contractual agreements and research activities.

# Assists in the development of administrative standard operating procedures.

# Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Work requires communications, analytical and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a Master's degree program.

Education

Work requires analytical, communications and organizational skills generally acquired through completion of a bachelor's degree program.

Experience

Work requires one year of experience in program administration or involving academic, instructional or counseling activities to acquire skills necessary to plan, coordinate and implement a variety of program activities and events. OR AN EQUIVALENT COMBINATION OF RELEVANT EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Preferences:

Preference will be given to candidates who have experience in global health research and/or education; experience in overseas settings preferred; and progressive growth into managerial responsibilities and experience supervising foreign personnel and advising staff with various duties.

Experience with grant preparation and management is preferred
