Description of primary duties and responsibilities:
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit:

The Fayetteville State University (FSU) Central Receiving falls under the organizational structure of Business Services within the Business and Finance Division. The Central Receiving Department's mission is to provide the timely delivery of products essential to daily departmental operations. Our goal is to focus on continuous improvement of customer relations, while maintaining our commitment to providing the highest level of service possible.

Activities performed through the Central Receiving Department are as follows:

• Receipt and storage of all incoming goods via freight carrier, UPS, Federal Express, etc.
• Set-up and delivery of all goods to respective departments and/or custodians.
• Logging and tagging of all fixed assets with a dollar value of $5,000, or more.
• Completion of requisitions for departmental supplies and delivery.
• Acceptance and storage of surplus items
• Maintain Transfer Forms
• Moving supplies/equipment
• Serves as central point for all outgoing freight for vendor return.

It is the intent of Central Receiving to acquaint University departments with the services offered by this unit.

Description of Work Continued:
Primary Purpose of the Position:

The primary purpose of the Support Services Associate position is to work in accordance with established warehouse procedures and requires the use of physical strength in handling stored items and materials. Individual will be responsible for inventory of surplus items, maintaining surplus items, receiving goods and tagging high dollar items and using good judgment always. All areas are subject periodical physical checks for accuracy purposes.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalency.

Knowledge skills and abilities:
A thorough working knowledge of stock keeping and shipping procedures and practices; working knowledge of inventory record keeping methods and procedures; ability to examine incoming supplies to ascertain adherence to purchase order and specification requirements; ability to maintain routine clerical records and to prepare reports from these records; ability to make rapid and accurate arithmetical calculations; ability to understand and follow oral or written instructions; physical strength sufficient to lift and move relatively heavy objects; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, salesmen, and the general public; ability to supervise the work of subordinate warehouse personnel.

General knowledge of technical aspects of functions and capabilities of computers and related peripheral equipment and information technology; knowledge of the principles and methods used in obtaining maximum utilization of computing equipment; ability to operate a forklift and truck; ability to attend to detail; administrative and supervisory ability; general knowledge of accounts receivable, accounts payables, bookkeeping, report writing, and general office procedures; Ability to communicate effectively in oral and written form and to establish and maintain effective working relationships.

This position requires the ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull or carry objects; using hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving materials and manipulating things; the ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, and handling of materials required in a normal warehouse environment. Extensive walking of the campus may be required in the distribution of supplies and materials in some situations. Must be able to operate a fork lift.

Position will also require the use of basic office equipment to include office computers, telephones, facsimile machines, calculators, copiers, hand trucks, etc. Individual will be required to have valid N.C. Drivers License as position involves the use of a delivery truck, van, wagon, or golf cart in the daily delivery of goods and supplies

Preferred Qualifications:
Valid forklift certification and ability to operate forklift
