This project is being conducted in Metro Nashville Public Schools by Florida State University/Florida Center for Reading Research.


Successfully complete trainings on assessment and testing procedures.

Establish testing reliability.

Reliably administer assessments to participating kindergarten students.

Collaborate with research staff to coordinate testing schedules.


Completion of two years of college is required.

Skills required include:
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Must be punctual, adaptable and flexible

Must have access to reliable transportation.

Must have access to a computer to complete online training requirements.


Prior experience administering literacy assessments.

Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education or related field.

Teaching experience in early childhood or elementary education.

Other Information

Assessors will need to be available for Assessment Training in mid-August.

Assessors will need to be available (3-5 days per week) on a part-time (15-20 hours/per week) basis during school hours (8:00am - 3:45pm) throughout the assessment window of Early September - October 2018.

Anticipated Salary Range

Assessors will be paid $23.00 per completed student assessment booklet. Tester mileage is included in the pay rate. The battery of testing will take approximately 1 hour - 1 hour 30 minutes to administer. Assessors will be expected to complete approximately 5-10 hours of training. Upon successful completion of the training, Assessors will be paid $15.33 per hour for time spent in training sessions.

Pay Plan

This is an OPS/temporary Job.

Soft Money Funded Position

This position is time-limited based on soft money funding, with renewal contingent upon available funds and the needs of the University.


This is a part-time position at approximately 15-20 hours per week.

Criminal Background Check

This position requires successful completion of a criminal history background check, to include fingerprinting. The background check will be conducted as authorized and in accordance with University Policy 4-OP-C-7-B11.
