Responsibilities

The Department of Modern Languages and Linguistics at Florida State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Japanese Literature and Cultural Studies, to begin August 8, 2019.

We welcome applicants with a broad range of research interests whose area of concentration primarily focuses on Edo period or later. We welcome scholarship that transcends traditional disciplinary boundaries and/or engages multiple historical periods, cultures, or languages. Candidates should have a record of distinguished scholarly research and be committed both to excellence in teaching and to enhancing the department's programs at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Qualifications

Near or near-native proficiency in Japanese and English is required. Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service.

Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant Professor.

This is a Faculty position.
