Manages daily operational needs and administrative and financial matters for members of the Linguistics Department. Assists with personnel matters such as tenure, promotion and faculty appointments; student advising and alumni records; graduate admissions and financial aid; course scheduling; Bulletin copy; preparation and dissemination of informational and promotional materials; updating of information for program websites; facilities and equipment maintenance; required reporting to the College; and planning for Commencement. Serves as an informational resource for students and prospective students. Serves as the primary contact regarding matters related to the Linguistics Department and its activities, including conferences and externally funded research. Facilitates preparation of grant proposal packages for submission, reviews them to ensure accuracy and completeness per the established standards and requirements of the granting party, and oversees the BU-internal approval process. Assumes responsibility for all financial matters related to funded projects; there are typically up to 10 active financial accounts for externally funded programs, totaling up to $5 Million annually. Monitors Linguistics Department and grant expenses against approved budgets and conducts accounting reconciliation. Assumes administrative responsibility for planning and implementation of arrangements for 1-2 large international conferences (each with an annual budget of $100-125K) and other events on a smaller scale throughout the academic year.


B.A./B.S., previous budgetary and/or grants experience preferred. One to three years of related experience.
