Scope of Job:
The University Of Texas Rio Grande Valley School of Medicine (UTRGV SOM) is seeking a physician leader for the educational programs of its Department of Internal Medicine. Faculty member shall serve in this leadership role in the department's undergraduate, graduate, and continuing medical education programs. Will support the Department of Internal Medicine mission by planning and participating in its educational operations. Will serve as departmental faculty liaison to all internal departmental programs as well as to outside academic units of the SOM and the Division of Health Affairs, and will work with finance and administrative staff on the educational program budgets. Faculty member will work to develop new UME/GME/CME programs and s/he will serve as departmental liaison regarding department educational research activities. In addition, this faculty member will oversee and participate in the department programs' scholarly activity, faculty development, patient safety and quality improvement initiatives and curriculum development. S/he will participate in departmental evaluation activities including CLER and RRC site visits, and will assist the respective program directors in their required annual reporting to the UTRGV SOM GME office and ACGME. Previous experience in a residency program teaching role is preferred.

Working within the UT Health RGV clinical mission, the Department has outstanding educational and scholarly activities for medical students and growing Internal Medicine GME and CME programs. Demonstration of strong commitment to the education of residents and medical students is essential. Appointment rank will be commensurate with academic accomplishments and experience.

Minimum Qualifications:
MD, DO or equivalent from an accredited institution.

Discipline Specific Required Qualifications:
Demonstrated success in academic scholarship and in program administration.

Preferred Qualification:
Experience in a GME Program as faculty.

UTRGV is a distributed institution. As such and as assigned, the position may
require presence at multiple locations throughout the Rio Grande Valley. Work is
performed primarily in a general office environment. This position is security sensitive
and thereby subject to the provisions of the Texas Education Code
§51.215. The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of
Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least
135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement
Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week
and at least 135 days in length.

demonstrate proficiency in English as determined by a satisfactory paper-based
test score of 500 (computer-based of 173 or internet-based of 61) on the Test of
