The Shasta-Tehama-Trinity Joint Community College District (Shasta College) sits at the northern end of the Sacramento Valley, surrounded by mountains to the north, east, and west. Deputy Sector Navigators (DSNs) work with business and industry, colleges and other stakeholders to help create career educational opportunities for students. They proactively engage industry with the colleges in creating initiatives that enable student employment and lifelong learning in the sector. Consistent with the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office Vision for Success, DSNs connect colleges with opportunities to enrich career education student success through relationships with business and industry, assist faculty and programs to increase student employability, and facilitate access to resources.
Key requirements are for DSNs to apply business and industry expertise and fluency in articulating priorities, such that the colleges can take effective action.

DESCRIPTION OF BASIC FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The Program Director – Deputy Sector Navigator, Advanced Manufacturing (DSN), serves as a regional contact for the Advanced Manufacturing sector in Region A, serving the Northern Inland, Northern Coastal, and Greater Sacramento areas. The DSN works with the region's colleges and employers to create alignment around and deliver workforce training and career pathways. Employees in this classification organize, direct, coordinate, and supervise the activities and operations of the Advanced Manufacturing sector program. This job class exercises responsibility for directing and administering a program, including supervising program personnel, which requires organizational, problem solving, decision making, and budgetary skills. Employees in this classification receive minimal supervision within a framework of standard policies and procedures. This is an administrative, overtime exempt position.
CLASSIFICATION: Range 20 on the Administrative Salary Schedule, 40 hours per week, Work assignment hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00p.m., Monday through Friday, 12 months per year.
SUPERVISOR: Associate Vice President of Economic & Workforce Development or Designee.
BENEFITS: Holiday, vacation and sick time will be provided. This is a Classified Administrator position with a default CALPERS retirement.

New Administrative Appointments will be placed at the step 1 on the Administrative Salary Schedule and will graduate to the next step on July 1st of the following year if they have rendered 6 months of satisfactory service, with subsequent steps annually thereafter to a maximum fifth step.
Salary placement would only be negotiable if the candidate held the same position with another community college and step 2 or 3 would be the maximum considered depending on the number of years of service.
