The University of Virginia's Department of Parking and Transportation is searching for a reliable Flex Worker - Enforcement Officers.

The Flex Worker performs a variety of tasks to assist the mission of Parking and Transportation in serving the University of Virginia Community. Duties potentially include serving as an enforcement officer, front counter customer service representative, service crew technician, sign shop technician,, grounds crew worker, and the operation of a transit bus unit on a fixed route as well as in support of University-wide events. The Flex Worker is a versatile front-line customer service provider within the Department of Parking and Transportation.

The initial and primary focus for this Flex Worker position is to serve in the field as an Enforcement Officer. Responsibilities include parking permit enforcement on foot in parking lots, which includes writing tickets and potentially booting and towing illegally parked vehicles. Other duties include front-line customer service, driving support vehicles and/or the License Plate Recognition (LPR) car, and manning the entrance to parking lots during special events, directing visitors and answering questions as needed.

A high School Diploma or equivalent is required. A valid state of Virginia Driver's License is required. The ability and willingness to obtain a State of Virginia Commercial Driver's License (CDL) learner's permit within first 90 days of employment is required. Knowledge of highway regulations is essential. Applicants must demonstrate effective verbal and listening communications skills; time and stress management skills; and the ability to provide friendly customer service and conduct positive courteous and respectful interaction with the public. Applicants must have the ability to read and write in the English Language to record and maintain daily records. Basic computer skills are required as is the ability to understand handheld telecommunication devices in order to be effectively trained on specific parking enforcement equipment. Preference will be given to applicants with a Class A or Class B Commercial Driver's License with Air Brakes and the Passengers endorsement. The ability to operate a transit vehicle, Knowledge of University Transit service routes and procedures is preferred as is familiarity with the University of Virginia Grounds. Familiarity with Apple devices (specifically iPhone) is highly preferred.
