Job Details
Duties: Li-San Wang's Lab is hiring an application developer to develop cloud-based infrastructure for big genomic data integration and analysis. Duties include (1) software development for cloud-based data management and integration environment, (2) implementation of workflows and algorithms using Python/Spark framework and other modern technologies for big data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The application developer will create quality code, modular designs and clean APIs, using external frameworks as needed. The applicant will bring an interest in exploring and integrating new technologies. S/he will work with other developers, analysts, and researchers from the lab or other collaborators to help translate complex algorithms and queries into effective tools and interfaces.
Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and three to five years of combined training and working experience in computer science, bioinformatics, or other related fields or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Candidates should have proven knowledge of data engineering and big data management/analysis. Hands-on experience in developing big data analysis applications with Apache Spark using PySpark, SQL, RDD and dataframe APIs required. Experience in bioinformatics, genomic analysis and cloud computing optional but strongly preferred.
